1. Is my car safe to drive?
Yes, as the EPA and Environment Canada have both verified, this issue relates to Emissions only, the safety of the vehicles is not affected.
2. How will they fix the car?
We are looking into this. Volkswagen is working with the regulatory agencies in Canada and the US to confirm the facts and determine the appropriate course of action. Once this is known we will communicate with all affected customers.
3. When will my car get fixed to be compliant?
It is not yet clear what action will need to be taken with affected models, but we are working to establish this and will inform affected customers as quickly as possible.
4. How long will it take and will I get a loaner?
We do not have an estimate of the time required to complete as of yet, but loaner programs are being developed and will be communicated to dealers shortly.
5. Will the solution/fix affect the performance or fuel economy?
We will determine what impacts, if any, the solution will have on performance or fuel economy as the actions are developed and will address them accordingly.
6. If my fuel economy suffers as a result of the fix, will VW compensate me for the difference?
We will determine what if any impact the fix/solution will have on performance or fuel economy as the actions are developed and will address them accordingly.
7. How harmful is my car to the environment? What damage is my vehicle really causing?
Volkswagen is cooperating with regulatory authorities to accurately determine this along with what corrective actions are required. Updates will be provided to dealers and all impacted customers as soon as they are available.
8. How will this affect the value of my vehicle?
As Volkswagen works with regulators, one of its primary goals is to find a resolution that avoids impacting the value of the vehicles in question. Ultimately, though, the value of a used vehicle is determined by a number of market-based variables.
9. Will it pass an emissions test prior to the recall?
We are looking into this. Volkswagen is working with the regulatory agencies in Canada and the US to confirm the situation and the solution.
10. Do you know for sure that only the TDI 2.0 diesel models are affected?
Based on the facts available to us at this point in time, we have no reason to believe any other models are affected.
11. How can I trust VW quality and engineering?
